COUNSELING & RESOURCE CENTER
The Counseling & Resource Center was developed because Saint Paul’s College recognizes counseling as a major function in the development of you becoming a successful student. Academic and personal problems, adjustment difficulties, social skill development, parental conflicts, financial concerns and sex role awareness are areas of frequent frustration for many of today’s students. A professional counselor and peer counselors act as facilitators in helping you resolve anxieties and other factors interfering with your academic and social growth. Mental health & substance abuse prevention resources are provided as well. Individual and group counseling are provided in a confidential and trusting atmosphere.
HEALTH SERVICES
THE LOULIE TAYLOR LETCHER MEMORIAL INFIRMARY provides routine medical health care for the treatment of minor injuries and illnesses. Health Education and medical care are delivered through the campus nurse and part-time physicians. Specialists are sometimes needed for students’ illnesses and injuries, which require care beyond the services available through the Infirmary. In such cases, the Infirmary staff will refer students to recommended specialists. Students in need of hospitalization will be referred to local hospitals. The cost of all health care services provided outside the campus infirmary is the responsibility of the student and his or her parents. Ambulance services are available for use in case of serious illness or injury. Costs for ambulance services, hospitalization, prescriptions, etc., are the responsibility of the student and his or her parents.
Student accident and sickness insurance is provided as a part of the student health care program. All students are enrolled in the insurance program at a nominal cost paid at the time of registration. The insurance is provided as a supplement to the coverage available through the student’s family insurance plan and is not intended to be comprehensive or to replace the family’s responsibility for the student’s health care. The cost of health services provided outside the Infirmary and not covered by the student’s accident and sickness insurance plan is solely the responsibility of the student and his or her parents. Due to the escalating costs of medical care, parents and/or students without the proper medical insurance are encouraged to subscribe to a personal medical insurance plan that would provide additional medical services.
